As an ex serviceman in the British army, I have had extensive
experience in driving over some seriously rough terrain.
From Kenya to the Brecon Beacons of Wales, from the Falkland
Islands to Germany's Black Forest. All my rough terrain
driving has been in the classic and reliable LandRover,
both short and long wheel bases. Driving cross country is
fun, but it is also a skills that can only be honed upon
experience.
The Land Rover remains an iconic vehicle and, in my opinion,
still stands head and shoulders above the rest, but times
change and now four by four vehicles are in heavey competition,
not so much as practical over land vehicles, more as fashion
assessories - is that too harsh? Some manufacturers have
developed some serious machinery, for example, Mitsubishi,
but the statndard the serious manufacturers aspire to is
the good old British army Land Rover.
